Summary:The root-locus method is effective in analyzing feedbach control systems. However, the method is seldom used because the drawing technique of root-loci is troublesome. It is, trerefore, thhe subject of this paper to explain a new electronic root-locus computer, which automatically indicates and records root-loci of closed-loop characteristic roots as a function of the open-loop gain. This computer is able to draw rapidly any complicated root-loci of a feedback control system which has a transportation lag exp (-Ls), (L=dead time, s=Laplace operator). The computer comprises an automatic root-locus plotter which draws high precision root-loci and a gain constant computing device which computes digitally the gain constant of an arbitray point on the loci.
