Abstract The phagocytosis index of separated leucocytes, taken from the bathers, in normal serum of non-bathers reached the highest value (1.43) immediately after bathing and then decreased remarkably and after one hour approached the value before bathing, and after three hours reached the value before bathing. The phagocytosis index of separated leucocytes, taken from the bathers, in physiological NaCl solution showed only a slight increase due to bathing, i. e. just after bathing it increased to the highest value (1.13) and after one hour already returned to a value lower than before bathing. The phagocytosis index of separated leucocytes, taken from the non-bathers in the serum of bathers (Opsonin index of the serum from the bathers) increased to the highest value (1.79) and then slightly decreased and after three hours returned to a value lower than before bathing. From these observations it is concluded that the phagocytosis of separated leucocytes from the non bathers in the serum from the bathers showed the highest value, the next was the first group and the lowest was the second group.
