Abstract | With billions of users across demographics, social media or SNS has become an integral part of modern communication. Unfortunately, many SNS users, including the so-called digital natives, are not fully aware of social media etiquette. In-appropriate social media behavior and posts can create problems like online harassment and cyberbullying with serious impact on real life. Therefore, learning social media etiquette is of utmost importance. In this paper, we propose SNS Master, a cooperative game, for learning manners in SNS communication. The game simulates a SNS scenario in the offline setting of a card game and encourages players to collaborate toward a common goal. Although the game is targeted toward teenagers, it can be played by adults as well. An initial evaluation of the game with 26 users at a university festival showed promising results in terms of delivering the educational contents of the game in an enjoyable way. |
