Abstract | The efficiency of photovoltaic pump system (PVPS) varies with the solar irradiation and it is important to select the suitable pump to improve the efficiency of PVPS. Pump with higher head works longer but is in lower efficiency when solar irradiation is powerful in noon. The paper proposes a maximum power trace (MPPT) controller for PVPS and a novel scheme with double pumps to improve efficiency of PVPS. The pump with higher head works when solar irradiation is weak while the pump with lower head is automatically switched to work when solar irradiation is powerful. The experiment proves the higher efficiency of PVPS with double pumps. |
