Abstract Betasympathomimetika werden bei Kindern zur Behandlung obstruktiver Ventilationsstörungen, die vorzugsweise per inhalationem erfolgen sollte, und der Hyperkaliämie, bei der die Gabe systemisch erfolgen sollte, eingesetzt. Sie sind gut untersucht, gut wirksam und sicher. In der Schwangerschaft werden Betasympathomimetika zur Therapie des Asthma bronchiale und zur Tokolyse eingesetzt. Die Therapie eines Asthma bronchiale in der Schwangerschaft unterscheidet sich bezüglich der Betasympathomimetika nicht von der nicht‐schwangerer Frauen. Inhalativ applizierte Betasympathomimetika sind in der Schwangerschaft zur Asthmatherapie hinreichend untersucht und sicher. Beim Einsatz zur Tokolyse ist der Stellenwert der Betasympathomimetika angesichts neuerer zur Tokolyse eingesetzter Substanzen in Diskussion.
