Abstract To improve navigation performance, rotating inertial navigation system(RINS), a navigation system that rotates the inertial measurement unit(IMU) to compensate errors in the inertial sensors, has been the subject of several studies aimed at optimizing the rotation method and period for enhancing the compensation effect. The rotational motion occurring during maneuver affects not only the attitude stabilization of the IMU but also the performance of rotating modulation. Therefore, this paper proposes a rotation scheme applicable to the gimbal that stabilizes a vehicle's roll motion and compares the compensation performance with a conventional rotation scheme based on simulation results.
