Summary:Breast cancer is one of the most common cancers affecting women worldwide. After a mastectomy, women often face critical physical and psychological challenges due to the loss of breast tissue. This research presented a new design approach for breast insert for mastectomy individuals using 3D scanning technology and rapid prototyping design techniques. Post-mastectomy women's chest is 3D scanned in naked breast and when wearing a mastectomy bra to ensure fitting, comfort, and appearance preferences. A 3D model of the breast insert is created from these scanning data. The breast insert is fabricated from 3D modeling data using a biosafety silicone material that ensures compatibility in weight and softness with the healthy breast. The symmetry level in the shape of the bra with the designed breast insert is satisfactory. The results of the evaluation of the mastectomy bra using the sample of breast insert by In Vivo test show a high degree of acceptance. The method of designing breast inserts of mastectomy bras using 3D scanning technology allows making custom models to be precisely tailored to specific body preferences and anatomy, ensuring both physical and emotional comfort for the users.
