Abstract Extracting the center of gravity and standard deviation is a common way to study the fricative. This study, under guidance of the Speech Learning Model-revised, aims to analyze the acoustic features during the generation of Chinese and English consonants by 10 Uyghur subjects, and obtain the normalized pattern figure of Chinese sibilants and English dental fricatives for which a higher error rate tends to occur. The main findings are as follows: The subjects with higher language proficiency are more like the native speakers, and their acoustic features and patterns are also closer to those of native speakers.
