Abstract The subject of our diploma thesis is the exploration, as a double process, as much as a "reading" process and also as an "architectural design" process, of an estuaries area of a historic peripheral trench of Thessalonica. Through a double reading, historical as well as synchronic, of this watery axis, we trace some potential "starting points" for its process of architectural design in order to transform it into a place of mutation. This transformation is achieved through the following manipulations: re-establishing the communication between the urban space and the sea, and at the same time raising of the barriers between the urban and non-urban space.
