PD characteristics and gas condition in artificially-simulated tree channel

In order to clarify the mechanisms of partial discharges (PD) in electrical tree, we investigated the effect of channel wall and gas on PD in a void and artificial channels with diameter of 40, 50 and 100 /spl mu/m. Summary:In order to clarify the mechanisms of partial discharges (PD) in electrical tree, we investigated the effect of channel wall and gas on PD in a void and artificial channels with diameter of 40, 50 and 100 /spl mu/m. The PD characteristics showed the tree-like PD and PD pulse was suppressed by channel wall for artificial channels with diameter of 40 and 50 pm. The gas volume decreased with PD in artificial channel and void. Furthermore, gas in artificial channel was not consumed more efficiently than that in void. It suggests that the mechanism of the consumption of gas by tree-like PD is different from that by void-like PD.
