Summary: | Liquid and solid contamination issues are common in many feed gas purification operations and can cause severe problems with equipment fouling, leading to additional expenses in maintenance and equipment repair, reduced production capacity and even unscheduled shutdowns. [...]the plant reported several operational issues, which included fouling of the lean/rich heat exchangers and foaming incidents. The gas processing facility includes a molecular sieve drying unit and a mercury removal unit (MRU), prior to where the gas enters the cold box (plate-fin heat exchanger, two in parallel) to condense the heavier hydrocarbon fractions before the fractionation train. Prior to assuming this role, he was Director of Product Management, Senior Marketing Manager and Senior Staff Engineer for the Scientific and Laboratory Services Division at Pall Corp. Dr. Wines has 29 yr of filtration, separation and purification experience serving the refinery, gas processing and chemical industries, and is a specialist in the fields of liquid-gas and liquid-liquid coalescing. |
