Cell cycle advances: several fields of biological research have converged on one unifying model of cell cycle regulation
Researchers cooperating on the study of mitosis discovered that the enzyme cdc2 kinase and the protein cyclin are the regulators of the process in eukaryotes. Both merge into a maturation promoting factor which triggers mitosis and effects cyclin destruction to start the cell cycle anew.
