Summary:There is a paucity of information on the detection of infections with yersiniae in camels. Yersinia enterocolitica has been isolated from camels previously. In Japan, Y. enterocolitica 0:9 was isolated from four of five camels serodiagnosed as having brucellosis. This study was undertaken to determine culturally and serologically the prevalence of infection in camels slaughtered for human consumption at the Kano abattoir.
