Abstract This study documented the involvement of Mycoplasma gallisepticum (MG) in the respiratory diseases of commercial broilers. Birds from 48 commercial broiler farms with respiratory problem were visited in Lahore district. Variable clinical signs, gross pathological lesions and histopathological changes were recorded, which led to the placement of bird in four distinct groups. The polymerase chain reaction (PCR) detected MG infection in birds from 22/48 (46%) farms. These results showed that MG is a noxious bacterium affecting the broilers health and productivity, by weakening their immune system.
