Summary:The remodeling works of the Gregorio Prieto Museum (Valdepeñas, Ciudad Real), as well as the updating of its museographic plan, have allowed the discovery of eight unpublished large canvases by the painter Joaquín Valverde Lasarte (Seville, 1896-Carmona, Seville, 1982).All these works are contextualized in the training period of the Sevillian, precisely when there was a special friendship between him and Gregorio Prieto (Valdepeñas, Ciudad Real, 1897-1992); relationship that would last over time, tempered by their respective biographical vicissitudes; according to the correspondence maintained between the two, today kept in the archives of the Gregorio Prieto Foundation (AFGP, 16/18),The creations that are disclosed in this article, based on the cataloging of the aforementioned Foundation, are five landscapes, two portraits and a painting of figures, as specified in the respective inventory.
