The results of field test showed that: in comparison with no topping treatment, the treatment of topping on the 24th day after initial flowering of sesame variety Ganzhi No. 9 could obtain the highest yield and economic coefficient, and better quality and comprehensive benefit, its seed yield was increased by 11.8%, and its shriveled seed rate was decreased by 14. 1 percent. The early topping treatment (topping on the 15th or the 18th day after initial flowering) could enhance the photosynthetic rate and chlorophyll content of the functional leaves, while late topping treatment could eliminate t
