In this article, the characteristics and classification were discussed, then the resarch situation in domestic was introduced, including species introduction, propagation, stress resistance, growing conservation, which will be the foundation of breeding and application in climbing rose in future. Application and formation of the climbing rose in greening were analyzed in this paper, such as overpass, pergola and gallery, greeningfence, road planting, wall greening. At last the importance of the climbing rose in urban landscaping was definited for the selection in future urban vertical greening.
