AbstractList | In organizational surveys, the need for gathering information of a sensitive nature arises in various contexts. Issues related to asking sensitive and potentially embarrassing questions within organizational surveys are considered, and a family of statistical methods known as randomized response techniques that can be used to obtain sensitive information is discussed. Discusses the key issues with respect to detecting, measuring, and avoiding (or decreasing) bias in sensitive, threatening, stigmatic, and/or embarrassing data. Describes a family of statistical methods known as randomized response techniques (RRT), which have proved to be more effective than traditional data collection methods in eliciting responses to sensitive questions. Maintains that the need for gathering sensitive information frequently arises in planning and implementing organizational surveys. Describes methods of designing the instrument format and the mode of data collection. Provides a description and process summary of the Randomized Response Technique (RRT). (CFR) |
