Coating performance and characteristics for UV-curable aliphatic urethane acrylate coatings containing norrish type I photoinitiators

The purpose of this study was to investigate the influence of several Norrish I (a-cleavage) type photoinitiators and UV dose on the curing behavior and coating performance of UV-curable aliphatic urethane acrylate coatings. UV-curable coatings were cured under a high-pressure mercury lamp. The curi...

Summary:The purpose of this study was to investigate the influence of several Norrish I (a-cleavage) type photoinitiators and UV dose on the curing behavior and coating performance of UV-curable aliphatic urethane acrylate coatings. UV-curable coatings were cured under a high-pressure mercury lamp. The curing behavior and coating performance of the UV-curable coatings that were cured using 2-hydroxy-2-methyl-l-phenyl-propan-l-one or l-hydroxy-cyclohexyl-phenyl-ketone were superior to those of the UV-curable coatings cured using bis (2,4,6-trimethylbenzoyl)-phenylphosphine oxide or diphenyl (2,4,6-trimethylbenzoyl)-phosphine oxide, when the UV-curable coating was cured in air.
