Abstract | PCB samples in the ambient air of petroleum refinery (PR), urban and rural areas have been collected by several PS-1 samplers from October 1992 to April 1993 at southern Taiwan. Both total-PCBs and PCB-homologues associated with concentration, phase distribution, particle-bound composition and dry deposition were investigated. Concentrations of PCBs were determined in ambient air in the vicinity of a petroleum refinery in southern Taiwan, and in an urban and a rural area. PCB concentrations in ambient air of both the petroleum refinery and the urban area were similar, averaging 5.0 ng/m super(3), while those at the rural area were 45% lower. The homologs exhibited two distinct peaks in tri- and hexa-PCBs for each of the three air samples.
