Summary: | This study examines the development of collaborative governance regimes (CGRs) to solve the pressing issues of climate change between municipalities and Indigenous Peoples in present day Ontario, Canada. Drawing on a survey of Ontario municipalities and key informant interviews with municipal public servants, the article applies an anticolonial informed integrative framework of collaborative governance to examine the barriers and facilitators to those engagements. The analysis that follows draws on lessons learned to identify recommended practices for municipal staff moving forward, followed by the conclusion.

Cette étude se penche sur l'élaboration de régimes de gouvernance collaborative (CGR) entre les municipalités et les peuples autochtones dans l'Ontario Canadien actuel, afin de résoudre les problèmes pressants du changement climatique. En s'appuyant sur une enquête auprès des municipalités de l'Ontario et sur des entrevues d'informateurs clés avec des fonctionnaires municipaux, l'article applique un cadre intégré anticolonial de gouvernance collaborative pour étudier les obstacles et les facilitateurs de ces engagements. L'analyse qui suit s'inspire des leçons retenues pour identifier les pratiques recommandées pour le personnel municipal à l'avenir, suivie de la conclusion. |
