The as-processed alloy exhibited high elongations even at high strain rates of 10 exp -2 and 10 exp -1 s exp -1 , indicating the appearance of high strain rate superplasticity. Enhanced superplasticity in the alloy subjected to high pressure torsion is associated with the formation of ultra-fine grains during heating after severe plastic deformation (SPD)-processing. An increase in applied pressure during high pressure torsion (HPT) leads to formation of yet smaller grain sizes.
