| AbstractList | A study examined attitudes toward rape victims and belief in rape myths across 302 Asian and Caucasian college students. Results indicated significant differences across ethnicity and gender. Presents a cross-cultural analysis comparing attitudes about women & rape victims among 302 Asian (primarily Southeast Asian & Pacific Islander) & Caucasian college students in Orange County, CA. Scale & inventory data revealed significant differences in attitudes as a function of ethnicity & gender. Asians & males were more likely to report negative feelings toward rape victims & more acceptance of rape myths than Caucasians & females, while Asians with greater degrees of acculturation to Western values endorsed responses similar to their Caucasian counterparts. It is suggested that culturally sensitive rape awareness outreach should be employed & targeted toward high risk groups such as Asian college students. 4 Tables, 35 References.
