Summary:Enzymes power up: The limiting performance characteristics of hydrogenases in bioelectrocatalysis was studied. A comparison of bioelectrocatalysis with catalysis by noble metals such as Pt, as used in low‐temperature H2–O2 fuel cells, shows that hydrogenase electrodes are similarly active in the consumption of dissolved H2 as are Pt‐based fuel electrodes.
