AbstractList Aromatic sultones could be obtained by the palladium‐catalyzed cyclization reaction of arylsulfonic acids with simple arenes. The reaction proceeds through sulfonic acid group‐directed multiple CH activations and involves the cleavage of CH and OH bonds as well as the formation of CC and CO bonds. Our protocol provides a facile access to aromatic sultones. Simple arenes have been successfully utilized in the Pd‐catalyzed CH activation of arylsulfonic acids leading to aromatic sultones.
