Summary: | A new intelligent temperature control method is described that provides improved performance for setpoint changes and achieves good temperature control for multipurpose batch chemical reactors without retuning or compromising performance. It uses a mathematically-simple control equation coupled with an understanding of how heat transfer occurs in jacketed vessels. A second item discussed is a general online energy balance that uses information about the reactor heat-transfer system and as little run-dependent parameter fitting as possible. This results in a process indicator that functions on a wide range of processes. |
