I recall vividly a strong point made in his opening remarks to the house staff. Dr. Weiss, one of this country's first clinical pharmacologists, admonished us that in the near future the internist would have therapeutic measures as powerful as those of the surgeon and that great knowledge and discretion would be needed in their appropriate application . . .
