Equivalent low-pass model for OTDM receivers

The performance of optical time-division-multiplex (OTDM) receivers is analyzed. It is shown that an OTDM receiver can be described by an equivalent electrical time-division-multiplex receiver. Summary:The performance of optical time-division-multiplex (OTDM) receivers is analyzed. It is shown that an OTDM receiver can be described by an equivalent electrical time-division-multiplex receiver. Using this model, exact photocurrent statistics are calculated. The influence of the switching window shape on the required optical signal-to-noise ratio (OSNR/sub req/) and the integrated contrast ratio is analyzed.
