Poly( N -isopropylacrylamide) (PNIPAAm) and polymers of methacrylic acid derivatives were used to generate the different temperature sensitive hydrogels. The effects of irradiation dose and N , N ’-methylenebisacrylamide (BIS) crosslinking agent were also studied. The polymethacrylate content in co-polymeric hydrogels was varied (5, 10, 15 and 20 mol%). The temperature dependence of the swelling behavior of the hydrogels was characterized. The influence of polymethacrylate content on the swelling characteristics of the hydrogels was investigated. The incorporation of polymers from methacrylic acid derivatives into hydrogels was effectively achieved under optimum conditions.
