Some of the unknown degrees of freedom were assumed to be zero in appropriate cases so that the total number of equations was greatly reduced. This boundary condition is termed the modified boundary condition. Both the actual and modified boundary conditions were employed for this study. A study of the possible savings of CPU time and computer memory space was also made. Two different shell problems, one of the paraboloid of revolution and one of the hyperbolic paraboloid, having opposite Gaussian curvature, are taken for the above study.
