Summary:This article discusses the precursors of earthquakes associated with changes in the statistics of physical and biophysical fields, which may contain information about the preparation of the expected seismic event. The approach used is associated with the study of the change in the entropy of the measured fields, which occurs as a result of the activation of the processes of fractures of the lithospheric plates immediately before the earthquake. As a result of the calculations, it was possible to identify the phenomena of processes with a high degree of determinism that arise in a short period of time before a seismic event. These phenomena correspond to the statistics obtained for both physical and biophysical fields and are valid up to large, up to several thousand kilometres, distances from the point of the corresponding measurements. •Method for the detection of the precursors of impending earthquake.•The precursors of earthquakes associated with changes in the statistics of physical and biophysical fields.•The phenomena of processes with a high degree of determinism that arise before a seismic event.
