Summary:A co-planar waveguide (CPW)-fed wideband printed dipole antenna is developed to fulfill digital TV applications. This antenna is designed with multiple loops to effectively extend the frequency range of operations. Additionally, the parameters associated with the proposed antenna structure are well investigated and adequately determined. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed CPW-fed dipole antenna can operate at a frequency band from 430 MHz to 1180 MHz in which the return loss is better than 10 dB. The measured radiation patterns look like a dipole-type pattern. Particularly, the proposed antenna has a gain ranging from 1.78 to 2.83 dBi. Therefore, the antenna proposed herein is very suitable to various digital TV applications for high-performance receiving.
