Summary:Genetic-simulated annealing algorithm (GA)-enhanced combined with Trust-Tech algorithm is proposed for the optimal capacitor configuration of distribution network to achieve reactive optimisation. The mathematical model is built, in which the total costs such as purchasing cost, installation cost, and power loss charge are minimised. The algorithm contains two stages, in the first stage, the global search ability algorithm GA is applied to identify the space with high quality solution and trust-tech is used to find the multiple local optimal solutions in the second stage. The numerical study shows that the GA enhanced Trust-Tech algorithm has the deterministic property and can obtain better solution than the results from GA.
