Summary:•A CPT-PEA+SRSS method for calculating responses caused by multi-wind excitation.•A CPT-SSRSS+SRSS method for calculating responses caused by multi-wind excitation.•The influence parameters on responses are analyzed based on the CPT-SSRSS method.•The proposed CPT-PEA and CPT-SSRSS method are more effective than the SPT-PEA. A fast pseudo excitation algorithm and a fast simplified SRSS method based on covariance proper transformation (CPT-PEA and CPT-SSRSS, respectively) combined with SRSS methodology are proposed for use in calculating the random vibrational responses of high-rise buildings subject to multi-group and multi-point wind excitations. A 492m building is used as an example to illustrate application of the methods. The effects of different parameters on the response are analyzed using the CPT-SSRSS method. A comparison of the computed responses with those computed using a traditional CQC approach and measurements from wind tunnel tests on an aeroelastic model demonstrate the feasibility of the proposal to combine the CPT-PEA and CPT-SSRSS techniques with the SRSS method.
