Summary:This article contextualizes Judah he-Ḥasid and the Sefer Ḥasidim by exploring the religious topography of twelfth- and thirteenth-century Regensburg, particularly through the lens of visual and architectural culture. The analysis complements work in economic and religious history that addresses the relationship between Jews and Christians in medieval Germany. The rich manuscript evidence from Bavaria’s monasteries is especially fertile ground for examining the attitude of Regensburg’s monastic communities toward Judaism.
