Summary:The morphology of the skeleton of both extant and fossil Platyrrhini often suggests an image of the ancestry of higher Primates, Man included. Here we give a survey of the characters of common origin to both groups. Reciprocally, a number of such original characters are seen to be maintained in modern Man, thereby placing him along a direct and singular evolutionary lineage.
