Summary:We report a passively mode-locked vertical-external-cavity surface-emitting laser (VECSEL) producing 335-fs near-transform-limited pulses at a repetition rate of 1 GHz with an average output power of 120 mW at a center wavelength of 999 nm. The VECSEL was optically pumped with a power of 1.85 W at a wavelength of 830 nm. The peak power of the output pulses was 315 W.
