Abstract | Studies of Stillingia salpingadenia and S. scutellifera, including type and historical collections, have shown that they are conspecific, sharing the presence of a xylopodium and the same phyllotaxy, foliar pattern, and gland shape in the bracts; S. salpingadenia has priority over S. scutellifera. The species can be recognised by the presence of a xylopodium, leaves with thickened margins and by cupuliform to tubular glands on the floral bracts. We also propose herein the lectotypification of S. salpingadenia subsp. anadena and S. scutellifera. Additionally, comments about the habitat, conservation status and a distribution map are provided. |
