Feasibility of lasing as a result of chemical radiative collisions

Summary:The possibility of lasing in accordance with the elementary process known as chemical radiative collisions in systems containing a rare gas and a halogen is studied. It is shown that the gain for the Xe+C12 system may be considerably greater than 0.1/m when a source with a brightness temperature of 30,000 K is used. The composition dependences of the gain are analyzed. A lasing efficiency of the order of one percent is expected.
