Abstract In this preface the main results of the 27th International Conference on Vacuum Technique and Technology (VTT2020) that was held on 27–29 October 2020 in Saint Petersburg, Russia are discussed. From 27 to 29 October 2020, the 27th International Conference on Vacuum Technique and Technology was held in the virtual form at the Saint Petersburg Electrotechnical University “LETI”.
