Summary:Abstract It is believed that the debris discovered in the ocean originated on land and was unintentionally and purposely transported by a river. Marine debris will accumulate on the water’s surface and sink to the bottom over time, polluting the seawater if left mismanaged. The life of marine organism will be threatened by the existence of the debris. The purpose of this study is to quantify the quantity of macro-sized marine debris generated by fishing activities. This study was carried out on Nasi Island in Aceh Besar from February to April 2022. Sampling of marine debris was carried out using the shoreline method with a 100 meter long transect. Marine debris from fishing activities identified includes types of plastic, plastic foam, cloth and wood, with a total of 179 items.
