Summary:It is difficult to perform treatment of the femur in revision surgery after total hip arthroplasty. From June 1996 to February 1998, we applied the compression cerclage Gundolf (CCG band) for revision total hip arthroplasty in 9 patients (10 cases). The average age at the time of surgery was 69.1 years. The average duration of follow-up was 1 year 4 months. They were evaluated both clinically and radiologically. Six cases showed good results with no bone resorption, but three cases showed poor results, in which two cases expenenced recurrence of infection, and one case early loosening of the femoral component in severe revision cases. The CCG band was useful for bone grafting in revision hip surgery.
