Abstract The suspensionplasty procedure is a simple method in which the base of the first metacarpal is suspended at approximately its normal level and then stabilized by reconstruction of a strong intermetacarpal ligament. We assessed 5 thumbs in 5 patients (2 male, 3 female). Patients ranged inage from 55 to 80 years (mean 66 years), follow-ups were 10-15 months (mean 12.5 months). Patients were classified according to the Eaton classification as follows; stage IV in all thumbs. In this pepar, we discuss the method of tendon suspensionplasty (Thompson method).
