Characterization of Mode Coupling in Few-Mode Fibers Using Optical Low-Coherence Reflectometry

Optical low-coherence reflectometry is used to characterize mode-coupling in few-mode fibers. Besides identification of modes by relative group delays, the technique makes possible the quantification of power coupling between individual fiber modes.
