Abstract Orofacial and cervical manifestations of aquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS) admitted to “Departement de Sante Publique et Medecine Tropicale, HOpital de la Pitie-Salpetriere, Paris, France” were studied. Oral candidal infections occured in 80.0%. Cervical lymphadenopathy was palpated in 60%. Facial and oral Kaposi's sarcoma were found in 31.1% and 15.6%, respectively. Oral herpes occured in 22.2% and leukoplakia was confirmed in 4.4%. At least one of these manifestations occured in more than 93%. These findings suggest that oral surgeons have an important relation to AIDS in terms of diagnosis and treatment. Seven biopsy-proved cases of cervical lymphadenopathy showed 3 cases of follicular hyperplasia, 2 cases of tuberculous lymphadenitis, one case of Hodgkin's disease and one case of Kaposi's Sarcoma indicating that these histological findings were not specific to AIDS.
