Dental treatment may cause transient bacteremia, it can result in bacterial endocarditis in predispose subject. We studied the incidence of transient bacteremia following dental procedure and discovered a 44,7 % rate in 85 patients. The frequency of bacteremia seems sufficiently high to show prophylaxis importance. We have noted an increase of incidence, for children 31,8 % and 89.5 % in adults, after 20 years. Streptococcus viridans is the most frequently isolate. The strains's MCI confirms antibioprophylaxis suggested by American Heart Association. Meanwhile first generation cephalosporin is also good choice. |
