Kosovo, a developing country in South-Eastern Europe, faces economic challenges despite recent growth. Its technology sector, crucial for a knowledge economy, struggles with IT company failures. This study uses a qualitative cross-case analysis to compare 15 failed IT companies with 5 successful ones, identifying specific attributes and factors associated with their outcomes. The findings reveal that managerial experience, strategic planning, marketing, networking, dedication, and commitment differentiate successful IT companies from those that fail. Additionally, the research highlights the importance of international markets, favorable financial conditions, government support, competitive strategies, and workforce skills in business success. This research provides valuable insights into business dynamics in a developing economy and informs policymakers in crafting targeted support.
