| Abstract | In a CAPD patient with diet-induced chyloperitoneum, we studied the effect of oral intake of long-chain triglycerides (LCT) and medium-chain triglycerides (MCT) on the components of the peritoneal dialysates. After 6.5-48 hours, LCT induced milky ascites which were rich in triglycerides, chylomicrons and total lipids. However, LCT did not induced the milky appearance. The oral intake of LCT appeared to be an important factor which causes milky ascites in our patient. |
