Summary:The Index Translationum, published by UNESCO, classes Jules Verne as one of the most popular authors in the world and one of the five most translated authors. It is our aim to present here how Verne’s Voyages extraordinaires published in the nineteenth century were received in Portugal. We have conducted our researches at the collections of the National Library of Portugal (BNP) and in various academic libraries. We have identified an initial list of the novels of Jules Verne published in Portugal, the name of the translators, the number of editions, the date of each of them as well as the presence or absence of illustrations.
