Abstract Tissue culture methods were used to study the combined effects of topical corticosteroids and various antiglaucoma drugs on normal corneal epithelium. The results indicate significantly reduced resistance of cultured epithelial cells to a combination of corticosteroids and antiglaucoma drugs. The strongest cytotoxic effects were produced in the epithelial cultures pretreated with antiglaucoma drugs and consequently exposed to the combined therapy with prednisolone and antiglaucoma drugs. Neostigmine was found to have a most deleterious effect on corneal cells in tissue culture.
